To Whom It May Concern:
To be honest, I initially did not choose The Resource Group (TRG) as our financial accounting software provider. When I contacted Microsoft for a list of providers, they were not listed and I choose a Company located closer to our corporate office. After I had already purchased the core Great Plains series, the Company I chose ended up in a dispute with Microsoft over training requirements for their Great Plains support personnel and lost the right to sell and support Great Plains. I was left high and dry with a bundle of uninstalled software and the end of the year quickly approaching. Knowing that finding a Great Plains provider that was willing to step into a mess created by another Company was going to be a challenge, I made some inquires with some of my fellow controllers at the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants. The Resource Group's name came up several times. I contacted TRG and within a week was sitting with Marty and one of his support staff in our office discussing our organizational structure and the dilemma the other Company had left us with. To my surprise, TRG was willing to step in and help us with the installation and provide the ongoing support we were going to require even though they did not sell us the software.
Our organization is complicated by the various entity structures and interrelationships between the entities. I initially choose Great Plains because of the integration available with other Windows products we use in our office. With TRG guidance, we were able to install additional Great Plains Series to our core Series and develop an accounting system that meets the ever expanding needs of our organization. TRG was able to schedule us in on very short notice. We wanted to start the new year on the new software and not go through the headache and heartache of a mid year software conversion. TRG staff was in our office on January 3rd installing and setting up the sample company for us to explore until they could get out for the setup and staff training of our companies and employees on Great Plains. The technical expertise of TRG employees has never ceased to amaze me, they were able to solve our multiple server conflict problems, workstation issues, and get us trained and up and running by the end of January. Luckily for us, most of the Great Plains series proved rather intuitive for our staff and we were able to focus on the out of the ordinary issues our organization presented. The best recommendation we received was to integrate all our inter-company transactions by installing the Inter-Company Series. By far the best move we ever made! The setup, training and support we have received from TRG has exceeded our expectations, and been better than any I have experienced in my twenty years of accounting.
Great Plains is excellent accounting software, but in reality, accounting software is accounting software. What makes it great software is the support we have received from TRG. They are always available to provide support for issues that we occasionally run into and in providing solutions to our changing business needs. I have taken several classes at TRG on the various Great Plains software series and their training facilities are top notch, as are their instructors. To my knowledge, TRG has always been able to provide solutions to any problem, issue or conflict we have experienced while running Great Plains. I would be glad to provide any additional information related to my experiences with TRG and Great Plains that a prospective
client might have in regards to their software
search.
Sincerely,
